Go Travel and See Alhambra in Granada, Spain

I guess it is time to travel and see the world again! I should often share more travel articles and images here but my busy life can’t just do it. I am happy to share one of the most terrific and wonderful travels I had from last year. There are just a lot of lovely places here on earth and I am glad to see and to visit some of them.

Let’s get going! Our trip to Spain last December 2011 was one of my favorite travels last year. There are some charming and beautiful cities we visited and one of it is Granada. Our hotel, where the whole group stayed for 4 nights, is located in the center of Granada. Some hundred meters walk and you can already reach some of the famous sights in this city.

The highlight of our tour in Granada was the visit to Alhambra. This historical palace and complex is truly worth to see when visiting this city. Be sure to book your ticket months before or else you won’t get any when not buying in advance. Our tour guide named Lothar told us that information to us.

Alhambra, Generalife and Albayzín, Granada are included in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Here are some of the snapshots I took when we were there.

Alhambra was constructed during the mid 14th century by the Moorish rulers of the Emirate of Granada in al-Andalus. It is located on the top of the hill of the Assabica on the southeastern border of the city of Granada.

the entrance to Alhambra.

The famous The Patio de los Leones or the Court of the Lions, a unique example of Muslim art, inside the Alhambra compound. It is an oblong court, 116 ft (35 m) in length by 66 ft (20 m) in width, surrounded by a low gallery supported on 124 white marble columns.

It was under repair during our visit last December 8, 2011.
