A Beautiful Day in Assisi, Italy

This post should be done some hours ago. Since I  hooked-up again  watching movie on television, it took me again too long to finish this post. Sorry for that. Hey,  March is ending soon! Hello April, I am excited that you are coming in some minutes, Central European Time.  I have so many things to share especially about my travels and adventures but it seems that my time is always limited. Or I would say, so many things are keeping me busy these days.

Let’s go back to Assisi now. After visiting the capital of Umbria which is Perugia, our next destination  was Assisi.  Not much time seeing all the sights in this town but I am happy to experienced the the birthplace of St. Francis. He was the founder the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208, and St. Clare (Chiara d’Offreducci), the founder of the Poor Sisters, which later became the Order of Poor Clares after her death.

We only spent around 3 hours in Assisi. Among the sights we experienced are San Rufino Cathedral,  Piazza del Comune with  the “Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo” with the clock tower and the beautiful church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva (St. Mary over Minerva), St. Claire’s Basilica, Saint Francis’ Basilica and other historical architecture in this town.

It was only a short visit in Assisi but I am satisfied to see one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites  in the planet. It was indeed a  beautiful day in Assisi with  blue sky and  nice weather!
