The Louvre Palace or Palais du Louvre as it is called in French language , is a former royal palace situated between the Tuileries Gardens and the church of Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois. It is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in Paris. The image I have below was taken as we were on our way to visit the Louvre Palace where the Louvre Museum is. We were in the bus as I took this picture. You can also see part of the Louvre museum at the image here.
The New Louvre is the name often given to the wings and pavilions extending the Palace for about 500 meters westwards on the north (Napoléon I and Napoléon III) and on the south (Napoléon III) sides of the Cour Napoléon and Cour du Carrousel. It was Napoléon III who finally connected the Tuileries Palace with the Louvre in the 1850s, thus finally achieving the Grand Dessein “(Great Design”) originally envisaged by King Henry IV of France in the 16th century. This consummation only lasted a few short years, however, as the Tuileries was burned in 1871 and finally razed completely in 1882.
The northern limb of the new Louvre consists (from east to west) of three great pavilions along the Rue de Rivoli: the Pavillon de la Bibliothèque, Pavillon de Rohan and Pavillon de Marsan. On the inside (court side) of the Pavillon de la Bibliothèque are three pavilions; Pavillon Colbert, Pavillon Richelieu and Pavillon Turgot; these pavilions and their wings define three subsidiary Courts, from east to west: Cour Khorsabad, Cour Puget and Cour Marly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louvre_Palace

Let’s go travel and see the world again! This time I am bringing you to Southeast Asia in a country called Philippines. I am sharing about Minglanilla which 1s considered to be a first class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is a part of a metropolitan area known as Metro Cebu.
Minglanilla is located approximately 15 km south of Cebu City. It is bounded on the southwest by Naga, Cebu; on the northwest by Toledo City; on the northeast by Talisay City; and on the southeast by the Bohol Strait. It has a land area of approximately 15.6 km². It was also known as the “Sugat Capital” of the south. The Sugat Festival is the Risen Christ festival, like Carnival. The picture below is the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (or the Most Pure Heart of Mary) which was built from 1880 to 1886. I took this picture during my vacation in the Philippines. Continue reading below for more information about this Church.
The church is a Gothic confection- the flame-like arches, painted domes of the bell towers and spires and flying buttresses which blend with the semi-circular arched portals. The geometric forms and the trefoil arch suggest possible Muslim influence.
One of the best-known crowd-drawing Christian Lenten rites in Central Visayas is the annual Easter Sunday pageant called Sugat (Cebuano for “encounter”), which reenacts the meeting between the risen Christ and His grieving mother. It features children as angels with wings sparkling with lights, slowly sliding down invisible wires from a pulley system onto the church entrance and altar.

Let’s go and travel England again! This time I am sharing about Knaresborough. Have you heard about it? For sure if you live nearby or if you have been to this interesting town, you will surely have an idea about it. Knaresborough is known to be a very old and historic market town. It is also a spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. It is located on the River Nidd, four miles east of Harrogate. The bridge you see in the picture below is a railway. More pictures next time.

Have you been to York in England? Have you heard about Clifford’s Tower in this city? I guess it is time to share something about York and the famous Clifford’s Tower. York is a walled city, situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England. This city is full of history as you can see the historical remains through its buildings and architecture. One of this is the Clifford’s Tower where you can see a picture below. I took this picture during my visit last November 2008. Some information about this castle remains can be found below.
As one of the most important cities in England, and an important base for holding and administering the north, York was the site for two of the castles William the Conqueror built in the years immediately following his conquest. The principal castle was begun in 1068, as part of a campaign to subdue anti-Norman sentiment in the north. Its wooden defences focused around and atop the motte; they were destroyed during a local rebellion the following year, but rebuilt by the Normans after suppressing the rebels and taking harsh reprisals on York.
In 1190 the wooden keep was again burned down, during a siege by citizens of the Jewish community which had taken refuge there. This was one instance of a continent-wide persecution stimulated in part by the emotionally-charged and propagandized environment of the Crusades. At and following the accession of the crusading king Richard, successor to Henry II who had been careful to protect England’s Jews, there were a number of violent outbursts against them in various English towns. In York, a violent incident was quickly followed by most of the Jews there seeking protection within the castle. However, when there fear became so great that they refused even the constable of the castle admittance, an attempt by royal authorities to regain access deteriorated into a mob assault on the castle. Rather than fall into the hands of the mob, many of the Jews committed suicide and set the keep afire. The survivors emerged the following day, only to be massacred by the besiegers. As punishment for this terrible act, the king’s Chancellor dismissed the sheriff and constable, imposed a heavy fine on York’s citizens (who claimed not to have been involved), but the ringleaders had fled and could not be brought to justice.
In the latter half of the thirteenth century, the keep was rebuilt in stone. It was given a quatrefoil plan, of which there is no other example in England. The keep later became known as Clifford’s Tower after Roger de Clifford, who was hanged there in 1322. cliffordstower

We had been to different parks there and we will slowly show it to you little by little. The image below was taken in Paradise Pier in Disneyland. Here you can see many rides and other entertainment services here. The Ferris wheel you see in this picture is only one of the many rides. More to come soon!
